Welsh Highland Heritage Railway

Hello everyone

I hope you are all well.

So today is the last day of my holiday. As it was a bit rainy we decided to go on the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway in Porthmadog (not to be confused with the Festiniog and Welsh Highland Railway).

It is a much shorter journey as it runs on the old sidings for the original Welsh Highland Railway (not the recent reincarnation of the railway which I went on earlier this week).
They use a lot of the original style coaches so it is actually more authentic than the longer version.
It takes over an hour for your journey and visit to the museum and shopping so good for little people and anyone who isn't so keen on a long journey.

There is an amazing shop with loads of books and goodies to see and buy. There is also a museum half way up the line that you stop at on the way back from Pen Y Mount (end of the line). If you want to there is also a miniature railway to ride on.
All in all I had a lovely day riding on the train, buying my last minute holiday souvenirs and having a look around the museum and playing with the interactive exhibits.
I finished the day off with a cup of tea and huge slice of cake in the tearooms.

For more information about the railway and train times visit their website; www.whr.co.uk

I'm a little sad that my holiday is over but I know I will have more adventures soon.

Speak to you all after my journey home tomorrow.

Lots of love

Dinorwic quarry

Hello everyone

Sorry for the delay in posting what I did yesterday but I was so tired I went straight to bed.

Yesterday mummy, daddy and I went to the Dinorwic quarry, this is the one on the mountain above the national slate museum we went to the other day.

It was so bleak up there there but spectacular at the same time.

You can see all the way down into Llanberis and across to Snowdon and all of the mountains.

We walked around for about 2 hours so my little legs were worn out by the end of the day.

We saw two police helicopters up there too, I was a little worried about waving to them in case they thought I was up to mischief or needed rescuing or something.

Today is the last day of our holiday so I'll let you know what I get up to.

Speak soon
Lots of love

Welsh Highland Railway

Hello everyone

I hope you are all well.

I've had a wonderful day on the Welsh Highland Railway. I had a return trip from Porthmadog to Caernarfon.
The weather at the start of the day wasn't so good but it was lovely and sunny at Caernarfon and all the way back which made the views on the return journey even more spectacular through the valleys and looking up to Snowdon.

We had a lovely picnic lunch in the station watching the engine move around and then back to Porthmadog.

It's a rather long day out on the train having left Porthmadog at 10.45 and got back at half 4 this afternoon.
But really was very enjoyable all the same  and I now get to have my dinner in the station cafe bar and grill called Spooners. Yummy.

Llanberis (National Slate Museum)

Hello everyone

I hope you are all well.

I'm having a lovely time in Wales still.
Today we all went to Llanberis to the slate mine museum and to look at the Llanberis Lake Railway.

First off though we went to a slate shop called Inigo Jones Slate Works. There were lots of lovely gifts there to buy made from slate. I could have bought so much but I didn't have too much pocket money with me but I've bought some really lovely things for myself and my friends.
(If you want to see what Inigo Jones has to offer visit their website at www.inigojones.co.uk)

After that we went to the National Slate Museum in Llanberis. It was amazing, it's free entry but there is so much to see and do, and there are lovely views across to Snowdon.
They have a massive water wheel working and lots of workshops, foundry and other things to look at to see how things would have run when slate was produced in the area.
The museum is located where the Dinorwic slate quarry used to be.
I would recommend it to anyone. After such a busy day I didn't have a lot of time to do anything else so I just watched the Llanberis Lake Railway train go past before returning to our accommodation near Porthmadog.
