Nene Valley Railway

Hello everyone

I hope you are all well.

I'm good and back home again.

On the way back yesterday we stopped for lunch at the Nene Valley railway where they were having a gala weekend.

We had a lovely light lunch watching the locos going up and down.
I really liked it.

So now I'm back home and ready for my next adventure.

Speak soon
Lots of love

Saltburn

Hello everyone

I hope you are all well and enjoying your weekend.

We've been to the seaside today. We went to Saltburn. We had a lovely lunch overlooking the sea and then we walked along the beach and picked up lots of pebbles to take home and played with the sand.

The tide was coming in when we left the beach so it was time to go back to my grandparents' house for tea.

We are going home tomorrow and my holidays are over again which makes me sad. But I know that I'll get to go to plenty of exciting places at home too.

Speak to you soon
Lots of love

National Railway Museum York

Hello everyone

I hope you are all ok and having a lovely week.

Today mummy, daddy and I went the the National Railway Museum in York.
We got there for when the doors opened at 10 this morning and left at 3 this afternoon!!

We had great fun. We rode behind a locomotive from the Festiniog railway in Wales. We are going there later in the year too so I was very excited to see it.

We then saw Paddington Bear in the main museum, lots of locomotives and looked at lots of books and photos by searching in the archives upstairs which they call the 'Search Engine'. Daddy works with steam locomotives so he was looking for things for work but I helped too.

While in the museum I found a Hunslet engine and side tipping wagon used to help build the channel tunnel.
Basically the whole day was very good as far as I was concerned.

Then back to my grandparents house for tea. We are staying in Yorkshire until the weekend so I'll let you know what else we get up to.

Lots of love
Ben

Wakehurst Place

Hello everyone

I'm back. :)
I finished all my homework so I got to go out with mummy today.

We went to Wakehurst Place in West Sussex.
It is run by Kew Gardens (Royal Botanic Gardens) but we are National Trust members so we got in for free (with a small car parking fee).
We wandered around the gardens and seed conservation area.
It was a bit chilly today but it was really lovely having a walk around.
As it's still so cold there weren't a lot of flowers out so I think we will have to come back later in the year when everything is in bloom and the trees have lots of leafs.

We spent about an hour there, we could have stayed longer but mummy and I had lunch planned with one of mum's friends.

We are going away for a few days for the end of half term week. I'll let you know what we get up to.

Lots of love
Ben

Day out in West Sussex Part Two- Littlehampton

Hello again friends

So we had some lunch and by the time we got out it was pouring down with rain.

Basically this meant we weren't really in the mood to wander around Littlehampton in the rain.
Instead we had a little drive around to see the sea and the town itself.

There were plenty of people out who didn't see to mind getting wet too much.

Maybe we can come back again soon when the weather is better and have a proper day out.

Until next time

Day out in West Sussex Part One- Arundel

Hello everyone

I hope you are all well.

My name is Monkey (you may recognise me from the tea adverts). I've been asked to step in for Ben today as he is busy doing homework.

Today I am having a day out with mum, dad and Pops.
We have come for a day out to parts of West Sussex.
Our first stop is Arundel.

Coming from Surrey we had some prevail at scenery.

We arrived in Arundel and it was a bit chilly but had a brilliant view of the medieval castle. It's huge, much bigger than our house.

We had a walk around the town which is very pleasant, and quite quiet considering it's half term week. We rummaged through the antiques shop and a really lovely book shop and bought some wonderful things to take home.

We are now off to some more places so I'll let you know where we end up!

Hope you all have a lovely day, whatever you may be up to.

Surrey in the snow

Hello everyone

I hope you are all well.

I woke up this morning to a lot of snow, mum had to calm me down so I could have some breakfast and a cup of tea before I could go out to play. I also couldn't find my hat so I had to borrow someone else's.

I built a snowman and had a look at the Christmas tree we put outside in its pot for next Christmas. The garden and tree were covered in snow, it's so pretty.

It was still snowing when I left this morning so hopefully when I come back from school later there will be more snow to play with.

Stay safe out there in the snow everyone, it's lovely to look at but it can be dangerous too.

Happy snow day
Lots of love

Brooklands VSCC Driving Tests 1st February 2015

Hello everyone

We hope you are all ok.

My name is Lizzie, I'm a giraffe just like Ben (but a lot smaller).
Ben asked me to write to you all about my trip to Brooklands Museum today. Ben's a bit tired so he stayed at home with some of our friends and I went out with mummy and daddy.

We went to Brooklands where they were having driving tests for vintage sports cars. The tests included the steep test hill and manoeuvre tests, there was also a test where they had to go really slowly and pull down a Christmas tree!!

It was really cold but I liked looking at all of the old cars and seeing them drive around trying to do the tests the fastest (apart from the Christmas tree one).

When we got too cold we even had a look at the bus museum that's on site. I liked the horse drawn buses. :)

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend.

Ben says he'll be back to reporting on his adventures next time.

Lots of love

Lizzie xx
