London Transport Museum Depot

Hello everyone.

I hope you are all well.

What a lovely day I've had today.

I've been to the London Transport Museum Depot in Acton. This is where the museum keeps most of their items that aren't on display in the main museum in Covent Garden.

They only open it a few days a year and today was one of its open days. So mummy, daddy, pops, my grandma (mum's mum) and I all went to the depot to have a look around.

There are lots of things to see including trains from the underground and overground, buses, fire and police units and all sorts of miscellaneous bits and bobs from London transport.

There were also special displays and stalls as well as model railway layouts.

Apparently there are over 370,000 exhibits in the depot. It's great for anyone into transport, like me.

If you fancy going along on an open day, tomorrow is one, then visit their website for more details; http://www.ltmuseum.co.uk/whats-on/museum-depot/open-weekends

Hope you all have a fabulous Sunday.

The Kirklees Light Railway 16th April 2015

Hello everyone

I hope you are all well.

I've been having fun at the North Yorkshire Moors steam gala this weekend.
But before we got there we went to the Kirklees Light Railway near Huddersfield on Thursday.

The railway is a 15 inch gauge railway that runs for 3 1/2 miles along what used to be the Clayton West Branch Line.

It runs between Clayton West and Shelley through lovely countryside. There were lots of animals to see along the way too.

I had a fabulous time, it was so sunny and warm I didn't even need my hat!

They have a turntable at West Clayton so that the engines are always facing the right way.
They even have Toby from Thomas the Tank living there.

I got to play in the play grounds at either end of the line and we had some yummy cake before continuing our journey north.

I think these types of trains are fascinating and I really enjoyed the ride and the day in general.
For more information about the Kirklees Light Railway why not visit their website  or even visit them in person. http://www.kirkleeslightrailway.com

Hope you all have a lovely week.
I'm off home today so I'll be in touch soon.

Lot of love
Ben

Surrey Society of Model Engineers

Hello everyone

I hope you are a well.

As a final treat for the Easter weekend today daddy took me to the Surrey Society of Model Engineers (SSME) which is in Leatherhead.
It's a club for model engineers to build/restore and make model locomotives and parts. They have a lovely grounds in Leatherhead with lots of track to go around. They only open to the public a few times a year for train rides. Today was a members day, not a public day, but because daddy knows people there we were able to have a look around.
I also got to sit in the cab of an engine and got to ride around the site behind a steam engine. I loved it.

If you fancy joining the society or want to come along to their next public open day (the next ones are the May bank holidays) then visit their website for more details; including details on ticket prices and public running dates. www.ssme.co.uk

Hope you all have a fabulous week.
Lots of love
Ben
Sitting in the cab of the engine. This engine doesn't have a name, can anyone think of a good name for it?

Tilford Rural Life Centre

Hello everyone

I hope you are enjoying the Easter  weekend.

Today mummy, daddy and I (along with some family friends and their dog) went to the Rural life centre in Tilford (Surrey).

The weather wasn't great but at least the rain held off.

Today was their Steam Toy Rally so lots of people had brought along their steam toys to exhibit. I loved those, I think I might have to save up to buy one though.

I had lots of fun looking at all the steam toys as well as the site as a whole.
All of the rural life exhibits were really interesting, because I like looking at old tools and seeing how life was in years gone by.

All in all I had a really good day; and the food (particularly the cakes) was scrummy that we had there.

For more information about what there is to see at Tilford visit their website: http://www.rural-life.org.uk

Tomorrow we are having a quiet day I think so I'll let you know if I get up to anything.

Lots of love
